Exodus 16: origin of the sabath

Sabat is about the 7th day which is holy and where no work is to be done

In the last post, we learned bout how Moses fled with the Israelis from Egypt. “In the desert the whole community grumbled” (Exodus 16-2)

As the Lord recognize this challenge, he gave out food which is to be gathered daily in the morning (on the fields) but only enough for that day. If people would gather more and hold it until the next day, it would go bad. On the sixth day though, they are instructed to gather twice as much, for the seventh day there will be none. (Exodus 16-26)

Exodus 31-15: for six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is a day of sabbath rest, holy to the lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day is to be put to death
