So a little bit about Abraham:
He couldn’t get his wife pregnant, which is why his wife told him to bear a child with her slave.
Genesis 16:1-2 Now Sarai, Abram’s wife, had borne him no children. But she had an Egyptian slave name Hagar; so she said to Abram, “The Lord has kept me from having children. Go, sleep with my slave; perhaps I can build a family through her.”
Abraham’s child with the slave Hagar was named Ishmael. The Lord after making the covenant with Abraham, said “Yes but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac” (Genesis 17:19)
And indeed Sarah conceived Isaac.
Genesis 22:1-2 Some time later God tested Abraham. He said to him. “Abraham!” “Here I am,” he replied. Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love – Isaac and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain that I will show you.
So Abraham did what the Lord said. But hold on it was just a test
Genesis 22:12 “Do not lay a hand on the boy,” he said. “Do not do anything to him. Now I know that you fear God, because you have not withheld from me your son, your only son.”
